Sales and Marketing folks are very aware of the “noise” that fills the world today. We tend to believe that getting a prospect or customer’s attention is very difficult.
What we forget is that the customer or prospect actually needs us. Maybe not our brand or our fancy new widget. But the solution to their problem that we offer. That the customer definitely needs.
Often in our noisy world, we forget to identify the pain that the customer is looking to solve. We take an internal focus- our new gadget is a world saver- so ofcourse it will sell. We talk about features. We talk about solving world hunger. And everything in between.
And we forget to listen to the customer. To listen and paraphrase their problem in their language.
So, here is the primary skill of being a successful sales and marketing professional- Listening.
